At the Hearth

At the Hearth is a work by Finnish artist Helene Schjerfbeck (1862 - 1946). It's one figure and tableau charcoal on paper painting created in 1938. The painting is privately owned and may not be always open to the public. Helene Schjerfbeckis a female artist, an unusual sight among the men painters of her day. Helene Schjerfbeck was influenced by Realism and Expressionism, and made most paintings about portrait and figure and tableau.
