The May Queen

The May Queen is a work by British artist Margaret MacDonald (1865 - 1933). It's one figure and tableau gesso, hessian, scrim, twine, glass beads, thread, mother of pearl and tin leaf on panel painting created in 1900. The painting is owned by Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum - Glasgow, one of the museums with the most Margaret MacDonald works, and is accessible to the general public. Margaret MacDonaldis a female artist, an unusual sight among the men painters of her day. Margaret MacDonald was influenced by Art Nouveau, and made most paintings about figure and tableau and sketch and study.
