Modernismo is a literary movement that occurred in the Spanish-speaking world in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Rubén Daro is considered the father of Modernismo. Modernismo refers to a poetry-based literary trend. The trend started with Rubén Daro's Azul in 1888. It reinterpreted Modernismo. After Rubén Daro died in 1920, the movement ended. In 1963, the author wrote Aspects of Spanish-American Literature.

"We must make art the foundation of our society; appreciating beauty is a promise of justice."

Modernismo affects word meaning and poetry's cultural effect. Modernismo finds beauty and advancements in literary language and rhythm.

Leopoldo Lugones, Manuel Gutiérrez Nájera, José Asunción Silva, Julio Herrera y Reissig, Julián del Casal, Manuel González Prada, Aurora Cáceres, Delmira Agustini, Manuel Daz Rodrguez, and José Mart are others. It blends Romanticism, Symbolism, and Parnassianism. Rich, styled word music expresses inner sentiments, visions, harmonies, and rhythms. This movement influenced the whole Hispanic world (including the Philippines), and the Generation of '98 in Spain had diverse responses to its aesthetics.
